Waqf

A gift that keeps working.

Waqf is an endowment. You buy the equipment a surgeon uses to restore sight, and it goes on working long after your gift is made.

The idea

Give Once. Restore Sight for Years.

A normal donation is spent and gone. It does its job, and that job is finished.

A Waqf is different. You give something that is kept and used, not consumed. At Al Basar USA that means equipment. One operating microscope is used for one patient, then the next, then the next, for years.

Every person it helps is part of the reward that keeps returning to you, or to whoever you gave it for.

“When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that benefits others, and a righteous child who prays for them.”

Know the difference

Three kinds of giving. One mission.

Not sure which one applies to you? Zakat is the one with rules attached. If you are fulfilling an obligation, start there.

What your Waqf buys

You don't need to know what a phacoemulsifier is.

Tell us roughly what you want to give. We will show you what it buys, and where it goes.

100% of your Waqf is spent on the equipment itself.

Or equip a whole theatre.

Fifteen pieces of equipment turn an empty room into a working eye theatre. Fund all of it, in one name, and it carries that name for as long as it operates.
