Where we work | Niger

Thirty-five years bringing sight to remote Niger.

Since 1991, our teams have run free eye camps across Niger, from Maradi to Dosso. One permanent hospital anchors the work, and now trains local eye-care professionals.

Our presence

One hospital in Maradi, doing two jobs.

The Makkah Eye Hospital in Maradi has anchored permanent eye care in Niger since 2009. Today it is also home to the Niger Institute for Comprehensive Eye Health, which trains the optometrists and ocular-care workers the region has always lacked.

A life changed

Hussein is back at his desk, learning alongside his friends.

A sudden injury took the sight in one eye, and his family could not afford treatment. After a successful surgery, he returned to school.

Beyond the hospitals

Care that travels to every corner.

Hospitals anchor the work. Mobile clinics and classrooms extend it.

School screenings

Our teams screen schoolchildren across Niger, referring those who need treatment before their vision becomes a reason to fall behind.
